FBA prep

Amazon stopped doing your prep. Here is what the FC actually checks.

Since January 2026 Amazon no longer fixes prep mistakes for you. Wrong label placement or a missing suffocation warning means rejection and disposal fees. The checklist we prep against.

On January 1, 2026 Amazon ended its own prep and labelling service for FBA. Before that, a unit arriving with the wrong label got fixed at the fulfillment centre for a fee. Now it gets rejected, and rejected inventory sits in a problem queue until you pay to have it disposed of or returned.

That changed the job for every seller shipping into Amazon.ca. Prep is no longer something Amazon patches for you. It has to be right when the carton is sealed.

The five things receiving actually looks at

  1. FNSKU label placement. One scannable FNSKU per unit, covering every other barcode. Not on a seam, not on a curve, not on the polybag's fold.
  2. Polybag thickness and the suffocation warning. Any bag with an opening over 5 inches needs the warning printed or stuck on, in the right size. The bag has to be thick enough not to tear on a conveyor.
  3. Bundles. A two-pack is one unit with one FNSKU and a "sold as set" sticker. Two units with two labels in one bag is an error.
  4. Expiry dates. Consumables need the expiry printed in a readable format on the unit and the carton.
  5. Case prep. Cartons over 50 lb get a heavy label. Cartons need the shipment label on a flat face, not over a seam.

Why prepping in Canada matters

If you sell on Amazon.ca and Amazon.com, you have two prep flows. Shipping US-prepped inventory into Canada means the pallet still clears customs, and any prep mistake is now on the wrong side of the border. Prepping in Hamilton means the units go straight to the Canadian FC as a domestic freight shipment. We prep to the checklist above, book the LTL, and send you the BOL.

Our prep rates are on the pricing page. If you are moving inventory to Amazon.ca for the first time, send us the scoping form and we will tell you what the first pallet should look like.
